FLASH FLOOD WATCH in effect for #laplataco and surrounding counties for numerous showers on saturated ground

FLASH FLOOD WATCH will continue through this evening. Showers are to increase as the day progresses. If you are in the back country watch carefully for potential of roads and trails washing out and potential for deep mud on mountain roads.

* PORTIONS OF COLORADO AND SOUTHEAST UTAH...INCLUDING THE
FOLLOWING AREAS...IN COLORADO...ANIMAS RIVER BASIN...CENTRAL
GUNNISON AND UNCOMPAHGRE RIVER BASIN...FOUR CORNERS/UPPER
DOLORES RIVER...NORTHWEST SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS...PARADOX
VALLEY/LOWER DOLORES RIVER...SAN JUAN RIVER BASIN...SOUTHWEST
SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS...UNCOMPAHGRE PLATEAU AND DALLAS DIVIDE...
UPPER GUNNISON RIVER VALLEY AND WEST ELK AND SAWATCH

* WIDESPREAD RAIN SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE SOUTHERN
PORTIONS OF EASTERN UTAH AND WESTERN COLORADO. THE HEAVIEST
RAIN IS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY LATE MORNING THROUGH EARLY
AFTERNOON.

* FLASH FLOODING WILL BE MOST LIKELY FROM EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF
RAIN CHANNELING THROUGH DRAINAGES AND RECENT BURN SCARS.
MUDSLIDES AND ROCKSLIDES...OR MUD DEBRIS FLOWS...ARE ANOTHER
CONCERN IN THE WATCH AREA AS SATURATED SOILS RECEIVE ADDITIONAL
RAIN ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING AND DEBRIS FLOWS. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
