..WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND JUNCTION HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.

* TIMING: SNOW SHOWERS WILL BECOME WIDESPREAD EARLY WEDNESDAY
EVENING...THEN CONTINUE INTO EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. THE HEAVIEST
SNOW IS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY EVENING AND OVERNIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION: AROUND A FOOT OR MORE POSSIBLE.

* SNOW LEVEL: INITIALLY AROUND 9000 FEET...THEN LOWERING INTO THE
NEARBY VALLEYS BY LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS 35 TO 45 MPH POSSIBLE
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING...THEN BECOMING NORTHWEST
AND DIMINISHING BEHIND THE FRONT LATE WEDNESDAY EVENING.

* VISIBILITY: AT TIMES BELOW 1/2 MILE IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.

* IMPACTS: MOUNTAIN ROADS AND HIGHWAYS WILL BE ICY AND SNOW
PACKED. BLOWING SNOW WILL GREATLY LOWER VISIBILITY AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AND/OR BLOWING SNOW THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
